چکیده

Case report A 59-year-old woman with a past history of rheumatoid arthritis arrived in our Emergency Department via ambulance. Her husband stated she had suddenly “appeared very strange” whilst preparing to go out for the afternoon, but could not identify specific symptoms. Physical examination showed her to have sinus tachycardia and tachypnea, but little else of note. Her oxygen saturations however rapidly dropped when she was taken off high-flow oxygen. Her D-dimer assay was markedly elevated, and urgent computed tomographic pulmonary angiography (CTPA) was performed (Figures 1 and 2). This showed large emboli (black arrows) in both the left (Figure 1) and right (Figure 2) pulmonary arteries (white arrows), with a saddle embolus noted on the right. Following the CTPA, she developed signs and

Role of paraclinical assessment in management of massive pulmonary embolism: A case report

Despite all the diagnosis and treatment processes of pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE), it is still associated with a high rate of mortality. We describe a massive PTE case of a 73-year-old woman with unusual clinical manifestations.

Percutaneous catheter-based rheolytic thrombectomy for massive pulmonary embolism: a case report.

Pulmonary thromboembolism is a life-threatening cardiovascular condition. The mortality rate is high in its current management. Besides supportive treatments, systemic thrombolysis and surgical thrombectomy play important roles in the comprehensive management of pulmonary embolism (PE). The percutaneous catheter-based rheolytic thrombectomy is a promising alternative for management of massive p...

Massive Pulmonary Embolism in Recovery Period of General Anesthesia: Rapid Diagnosis and Successful Rescue by the Guidance of Transthoracic Echocardiography

Massive pulmonary embolism (PE), an uncommon event in the perioperative period, is a major challenge to anesthesia management. Massive PE is often associated with an unexpected hemodynamic collapse and severe desaturation without other characteristic changes. It is difficult to make a rapid diagnosis during the perioperative period, especially under general anesthesia. We present a rare case of...

Unusual Presentation of A Massive Pulmonary Embolism

A pulmonary embolus clogs the artery that provides blood supply to a part of the lung. The embolus not only prevents the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide but also decreases blood supply to the lung tissue itself, potentially causing the tissue to die (infarct). A 52-year-old man presented with syncope and anxiety. He had sinus tachycardia and dilated right ventricle with trabeculations. A ...
